Bristol County covers just three towns on a narrow peninsula between Narragansett Bay and Mount Hope Bay, yet its dense concentration of college-educated coastal residents has made it one of Rhode Island's most reliably Democratic jurisdictions.

The Democratic margin in Bristol County reached its widest at fifty-two points in 1964. The margin in 2024 was twenty-six points — still decisive.

Bristol County's loyalty is rooted in its place. Median household income of $114,490, a 90% non-Hispanic-white share, and a population of 50,490 together describe a community whose political habits are deeply settled. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Newport County and Mercer County.
