Paulding County has roughly doubled its population since 2000 as metro Atlanta's western fringe expanded, yet its presidential margins have held consistently above R+20, suggesting growth here has reinforced rather than diluted the existing political lean.

The unraveling was not abrupt. The Democratic margin in Paulding County peaked at seventy-four points in 1932; it narrowed steadily over the late twentieth century. The 1984 election delivered the county to the Republican party for the first time in many years, by a margin of forty points. By 2024, the margin had settled into deep Republican territory.

The economic and demographic context is severe. Paulding County's median household income of $98,031 is among the lowest of any county in the United States; 7% of residents live below the federal poverty line. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Oldham County and Forsyth County.
